Attorney Profile

Al Lave received his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School and his B.A. from The College of Wooster.

Prior to obtaining his J.D., Mr. Lave had a diverse and extensive, 22-year human resource management career. His HR experience in the food, manufacturing, retail, wholesale, and automotive industries encompassed in-depth work in employment law and discrimination matters. Mr. Lave is also certified as a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR).

Mr. Lave’s background is also complemented by his experience teaching an Introduction to HR Management course at Portland State University and providing his services as a guest lecturer in the Human Resources Management program.

While in law school, Mr. Lave performed pro bono work at the Lewis & Clark Legal Clinic servicing the needs of low income people with unemployment insurance and wage claim issues. Due to his work at the Clinic, Mr. Lave was one of the first students to receive the Outstanding Client Advocacy Award. Other honors and awards at Lewis & Clark Law School included:

  • Cornelius Honor Society Award (for scholarship, leadership and contribution to the Law School community)
  • Honors Brief, Moot Court Appellate Advocacy
  • First Place, Lewis & Clark Law School Client Counseling Competition
  • Finalist, Regional Client Counseling Competition (Alberta, Canada)

He remains active at Lewis & Clark Law School by serving as a judge for Client Counseling competitions and participating in their Mentorship program. Additionally, Mr. Lave volunteers for The Campaign for Equal Justice which promotes access to the legal system for low-income individuals.

Mr. Lave’s comprehensive background and unique HR perspective enables him to provide targeted advice and counsel in dealing with complex employment matters.
